Shane Schick

Shane Schick, editor of ComputerWorld Canada, has been promoted to senior editor of the Enterprise Group at IT World Canada. The Enterprise brands include ComputerWorld Canada, Network World Canada, CIO Canada, CIO Government Review, ITworldcanada.com and Intergovworld.com; editors of these publications will now report directly to the senior editor. Schick joined the IT Business Group in 1997 as a staff writer for Computer Dealer News.

Canadian Business has a new senior writer. Sharda Prashad, who started May 6, is a chartered accountant and was most recently an equity research associate specializing in precious metals at Genuity Capital Markets. Before that she was a business reporter with the Toronto Star. Prashad replaces Zena Olijnyk, who left the Rogers Publishing-owned title on Jan. 11 for a job as investment editor CanWest’s FP newspaper.

Former Homemakers editor Dianne Rinehart has crossed over to world of free commuter dailies: She's now the editor-in-chief of the Metro Canada chain. Rinehart's vast resumé includes the Vancouver Sun (senior reporter), The Canadian Press (parliamentary reporter) Ryerson University (journalism instructor), Ski Canada (managing editor) and Flare (associate editor).

Apex Publications Inc. has appointed David Tanaka editor-in-chief of the 2009 Photo Life Buyers’ Guide. The Buyers’ Guide is sold on newsstands and included with subscriptions to Photo Life magazine. Tanaka has worked as a technology writer and editor for nearly 20 years on both the trade and consumer sides and has been editor of The Computer Paper and HUB: Digital Living. Tanaka will also continue to write his regular digital workflow column in Photo Life.

Montreal-based Éditions Infopresse has hired Stan Sutter as its Toronto-based vice president and director of English content. As part of his new role Sutter, a former editor-in-cheif of Marketing, is leading development of In:fluencia Digital, a new English online property from Inforpresse aimed at professionals working in the Canadian interactive and digital marketing industries. Infopresse is a new player in English Canada—all of its previous efforts were geared toward the French-language market.
