Canadian Gardening, which she has held at Transcontinental’s Home & Garden group since 2008.

McLaughlin says she is confident taking on the additional title because of the excellent teams working on both books. Also helping to ease the transition is the fact that she has dreamt of working for a style magazine her whole career. “This has been my holy grail,” she says. “Everything I have done in my career has been linked to style, it has always been a passion for me.”
She started her career at
TV Guide as a staff writer, moving to
Canadian House & Home and Redwood C.C.’s
Real You with stints feature and deputy editing. As editor, she relaunched
Century Home as
Canadian Home & Country and in 2008 moved to
Canadian Gardening.
Style at Home will continue to be aimed at décor-loving Canadians, says McLaughlin. “We’re geared towards readers that have a passion for decorating but want to learn, to be inspired.”
On the other end,
Canadian Gardening is celebrating its 20th anniversary with its April issue. This will be marked by changes announced closer to the release date, says McLaughlin.
McLaughlin replaces Jane Francisco who
left Style at Home in late November 2009 to become editor in chief at
Chatelaine after less than a year at the magazine.
Style at Home is published monthly with a paid circulation of 227,000.
Canadian Gardening is published seven times per year with a paid circulation of 150,000.
